Successful Pawtners - Matthew and "Bert"

I feel compelled to write this in reference to the training and other services rendered during this three week class. I am doing this after learning that some person or persons were displeased and I would like to give my two cents of the time spent in training as well as all involved.

I will begin by saying that this training was actually the end of a long road in which we had spent many hours in worry and working to raise money. We were thankful that this training and service was within reach and very grateful for the people responsible, and believe them to be an answer to many prayers for our son Matthew.

We were given directions during the travel of this long road and each direction was clear and concise. We followed these directions as we knew what was at stake and that we had no room to argue as we held no knowledge of how or why these directions must be followed. These directions included ways to raise money, different preparations to be completed prior to leaving and some to be completed long before this. The directions also included a contract where we agreed to follow all rules and training procedures and to be patient as you could not expect instant results as it was not magic.

Upon our arrival in Missouri we met with Mrs. Reinkemyer and were greeted as if she had known us our entire life. This attitude and our feeling of comfort continued.....

......I could also tell from everyone connected to HSP that they held a high standard and a desire to help each and every person possible. The Reinkemyer family was not a family of material things, as they were very down to earth and basically what you wished everyone would or could be. This in no way is meant to be derogatory. I am simply unable to put in adequate words the first and lasting impression of the family and their desire for others over their own.

I did notice and observe some people including myself and family to become upset and doubtful of the process. This was also corrected with the one on one attention of the entire staff, and explanations to any and all questions for my family and others.

In closing I believe people will be people and it is impossible to satisfy all. I also believe that if it were possible the family and staff of HSP would come closer than most. I would also like to say that the three week training was very long and tiring but worth every minute for the sake of our son and his progress and much improved overall self is proof enough. The every day life with my son and his service dog also remind us of the training and why each step was so important.

Respectfully submitted,
