I am writing to you in regards to a wonderful company I have had the pleasure of working with. The name of the company is Heaven Scent Paws Inc.

I first discovered the company out of sheer desperation. I was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic six years ago and had been experiencing severe high and low blood sugars. I had tried insulin shots, various insulin types, therapies, insulin pumps, etc. Nothing worked. My doctors, parents and I were at a loss as of what to do next.

I found Heaven Scent Paws through another website and immediately filled out the online application, and was accepted into the program in November of 2006. Michele Reinkemeyer personally called me to let me know that I would be a participant in the July 15 through August 5, 2007 three week training class. Since she was the owner and head trainer, it really put a good taste in my mouth that she, herself, made the phone call to tell me about my acceptance.

The following month, I was diagnosed as having epilepsy, I immediately informed Michele who comforted me as if she was my mother, not a business owner, as if she had met me in person a thousand times before. She said not to worry and that she would find a dog that could alert to both diabetic low blood sugars and epileptic seizures, which she followed through on!

In the three weeks that my mother and I were training with our group in Jefferson City, Missouri, I learned not only a lot about service animals, what they are, access issues, etc, but also diabetes, and a lot about myself. Heaven Scent Paws gave me back my self esteem, and so much more. I cannot possibly put into words, into a letter what this company has done for me, that is not tangible. There is no question in my mind that I owe my life to the Reinkemeyer family and the Heaven Scent Paws company and all of their staff members for what they have given back to me. I'm encouraged now to pursue my dreams, to stay in school and finish my degree in social work. Heaven Scent Paws is the reason I decided to pursue social work. This company is amazing, I've stated it before but it cannot be stated enough. Thank you Heaven Scent Paws.
